About the event
ROC warmly invites you to the ROC Research Sharing Event on August 31st at 6pm, at the Hamilton City Council Reception Lounge (at Civic Square near Garden Place, located along Worley Place).
"We want to contribute" - Former refugees' stories on their journeys towards employment.
The team of researchers report on the employment/unemployment experiences and aspirations of 111 former refugees in New Zealand. This data was collected via nine focus groups and 23 semi-structured interviews. Their findings identified specific refugee personal factors, employer/workplace factors, and the New Zealand context as influencing the employment and unemployment outcomes of former refugees. These factors and their suggestions for improvement in support for former refugees will be revealed at this sharing event. Attendees, including our participants in this research, are invited to comment on these findings.
