About the event

ROC runs five-day intensive Road Code courses for the former refugee community; held in Spanish, Kinyarwanda, Dari, Urdu, Somalian and more (depending on the community need)

Over the course of the week, Instructors teach participants the basics of driving, and what's needed to pass a Learner's test in New Zealand. Over the following weeks, ROC assists these clients to take up to 2 tests at AA Rototuna with an interpreter.

Getting a driver's licence is key to former refugees gaining the independence they need to actively participate in our community. It allows parents to ensure their children have access to the same opportunities as other children. It increases their chances of securing employment. It means they are able to participate in important events, and stay connected with family and friends.

But access to driving education is difficult for those with limited English or English as a second language. There is very little information available in other languages so specialised support is needed for migrant communities to be able to gain the same qualification that other Kiwis take for granted.

To enrol in this course, complete this form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/150DBvCOpZlKn0nVH0IQVV_gZAvnHNfCO/view?usp=sharing

And then send completed form and ID (Certificate of Identity, Overseas passport, Refugee Travel Document) to changezi@roctrust.org.nz
