inclusive Aotearoa. Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities and dreams into realities
About ROC Trust: Who We Are and What We Do
ROC Trust was founded by former refugees Guillaume Muzombo, Marie-Jeanne Muzombo, and Oscar Bulamba, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. After finding safety in New Zealand, they faced many challenges in adjusting to their new life, which inspired them to create ROC Trust. Guided by the motto “For Refugees, By Refugees,” ROC Trust was established to support others experiencing similar difficulties in navigating their new home.
ROC has grown to become a strong pillar of support for refugees from diverse countries such as DR Congo, Afghanistan, Colombia, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Myanmar, Rwanda, and more. The ROC family includes over 80 volunteers who assist in delivering practical programs for children, youth, and adults.
At ROC Trust, we foster a culture of acceptance, love, and growth, working towards helping former refugees achieve self-sufficiency, independence, and confidence in New Zealand. Our goal is to empower them to become active, valued contributors to their new communities and to assert themselves as assets to their new country.
From 2020, we have grown even stronger, expanding our support to include ethnic migrant communities, helping them integrate and thrive in their new environment.
ROC Trust offers a wide range of services designed to support refugees at every stage of their settlement journey:
